Beatriz Budinszky was born in Budapest, Hungary. Following several years in Germany and Colombia, South America she came to the United States to pursue her musical studies. She received both Bachelor and Master of Music degrees from the University of Hartford. She was a member of the National Symphony Orchestra of Bogota, Colombia and the Hartford Symphony.
She joined the DSO in 1964. Through the years she has participated in many chamber music concerts with her late husband Gordon Staples, former concertmaster of the DSO. In her spare time, Budinszky enjoys reading and belonging to a book club. She also enjoys being outdoors and doing yoga. She has two sons; Greg, also a violinist and a member of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra and Tim, who lives in Denver.
